Horse Drawn Canal Boat
People living in Calderdale, Rochdale, Oldham and Manchester will have the chance to see history come to life at the festival. And as part of this year’s celebrations, a horse-drawn boat will travel from Guidebridge, on the Ashton Canal, along the length of the Rochdale Canal.
Towing Maria, Britain’s oldest surviving wooden narrowboat built in 1854, the horse will stop off at various points along the route so visitors to the canal and festival can see how boats used to travel along the waterways.
The festival, which will be launched with an open day in Littleborough on Saturday, July 11, will include a bumper week of
free activities for all the family

Canal Boat Adventure Perry Township Ohio
Canalway Center at Sippo Lake — 5712 12th St. NW, Perry Township (330-477-3552). Featuring interactive exhibits including the Canal Boat Adventure that showcase the history of the Ohio & Erie Canal. Hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays-Fridays, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturdays, 1-4 p.m. Sundays. $3 for Stark County residents, free for all children 3 and under. $12 cap for families.
Canal trip on horse drawn canal boat
Canal Fulton St. Helena III Canalboat — St. Helena Heritage Park, 103 Tuscarawas St., Canal Fulton (330-854-6835). Two-mile, 55-minute, round trip on restored horse-drawn canalboat on an original section of the Ohio & Erie Canal. Rides depart at 1 p.m. and 2:30 p.m. weather permitting. Open weekends
Tuesdays through Sundays through Aug. 31; weekends only Sept. 1-30. $7, seniors $6, children age 5-12 $5, and under 4 free.
Canal Fest
WHAT: Canal Fest.
WHEN: Noon to 5 p.m. Sunday.
WHERE: Chittenango Landing Canal Boat Museum, 7010 Lakeport Road, Chittenango.

Again, plenty of good stuff going on, canal history exhibitions, period costume, blacksmith demonstrations and a chicken barbcue.

Lots of things for all the famly, trips around Waterloo Village, music, and the important thing as far as us boating fans are concerned, Traditional Mule Hauled Canal Boat rides.
Plus the village Blacksmith will be showing off his skills and boat Captain John Hummel, portrayed by historian Richard Pawling in period costume, will tell about life laboring on the canal, and play music of the 1870s.
